Database overview (New UI)

This article is describing functionality as managed in the new Symplify user interface.

We are currently in the process of launching our new user Interface therefore we have made some changes in expertise. If you’ve not been informed about this and are still using the current UI go to the original article, see link below.

Learn how this was done in the old interface!

All your recipient data is stored in a database which you use whenever doing a sendout or analyzing customer activity. To find your databases, simply navigate to Contacts on the left side menu, and you will find an overview.

In this article you'll learn about what you can see and do on a recipient list:

If you're uncertain about the database structure in Symplify, please begin with this article.

List types

There are different types of lists in Symplify which have different areas of use:

Databases (normal list)

All your contacts and contact data is stored in a database and this is the only type that is available for sendouts. Add segments to target specific groups in your normal list.

Test list

Testing your sendouts is important and you then use a test list to do so. You can have as many test lists as you want, containing one or more contacts storing the data you want. There can be no more than 100 recipients in a test list.

View specific database

To get detailed statistics of your recipient data you can click on the database and from here you can check numbers and details for subscription statuses, browsers, email domain usage and see an overview of the values in your attributes. Switch between the tabs to view each category.

Statistics

Overview

The overview tab shows the subscription and bounced statuses:

Attributes

Here you can see an overview of the data in your attributes. By pressing the arrow on the left hand side next to the name, you will see a dropdown showcasing the most common values for that specific attribute.

Email domains

Showcases which email domains are the most common amongst your recipients on the database.

Email clients

On which devices does your recipients open your emails?

Contacts

By going to Contacts in the top right, you will see samples of the contacts you have in your database. You can also search for a specific contact, or view any of the ones in the preview list.

When viewing the contact, you will see the data that has been stored and some statistics on their journey statuses, in which channels they have opened/clicked/a sendout and their campaign history.

You can also manually unsubscribe the contact from email or SMS.

From the tab attributes, you can view (and edit) the data in the contact's attributes.

The timeline tab shows which communications has been received, opened and clicked:

Manage

From the manage section in the top right, you can see scheduled imports, do a manual import, export, manually adding a contact and see your import history.

Import

From the import tab, you can do a manual import, read more about it here.

Export

If you don't have an automatic database export you can export your active contacts manually. You can export everyone or by recipient interaction and also select the attributes you want to include in your exported file.

Settings

Here you can simply rename your database (and delete it if you no longer want to keep it, but be careful though; all data will be lost).
