If you want to create a more customized optout flow you can do this by using Symplify optout flow generator. By using this function Symplify will automatically create the unsubscribe page and confirmation page. These pages will be created from a template and are editable.
- You can use the Symplify default template and customize this.
- You can use your existing template. Note that this require a template of version 1.1 or later to ensure functionality and responsivity (contact support@symplify.com if you are unsure).
How to set up an opt out flow
You can create a new project or use an existing one.
- Find and click on Subscriptions under Settings, and go to the Opt out tab.
- Name your optout and if you want, give it a description.
- Select project.
Choose the Default Page Boilerplate or any of your different templates if you have one.
The same goes for the Email template.
- Currently supported default optout language is English, but you can always edit this afterwards.
- Save.
You will now get redirected to pages where you find the different pages involved in your opt out flow.
When clicking “Edit Page” the editor will open and here you can edit your page as much as the template allows you to.
And that's it! Now you have a simple opt out flow that you can use in the designated project.
Unsubscribe levels
You can set your optout on different levels in Symplify; Account level, Database level, Project level, down to Campaign level.
Account level
Go to Settings > Subscriptions and find the tab Account opt out.
Select Opt out page and apply, and then select the Opt out page that you have created:
Database Level
Go to Contacts, find your database. Then go to Manage in the top-right corner, and find the Settings tab.
Here you will be able to select "Existing opt-out page" and then find the page that you have built:
Project Level
Go to Settings > Projects, select your Project in question - the same in which you built the opt out page, and here, you will be able to select "Opt-out page". Selecting that and applying, will let you select your newly created Opt out page:
Campaign Level
If you have unsubscribe managed through skins, and thereby projects, you will not be able to edit the actual unsubscribe link in your email!
If you want to add a custom located opt out page, you can select your newly created opt out page as a link.
Click on your link in your email, and select Microsite under "Link type", then find your new opt out page under Microsite:
Again: If this is set up under project/skins, we recommend not doing this to avoid confusion
Now test your optout flow by sending an email from where you optout and verify that your recipient has an email unsubscribed status in your database.
