Exporting segments can be useful if you want to verify that you've built your segment correctly.
You have two main strategies for exporting segments depending on what you want to include in your file.
Export selected channel
Get the contacts matching in a specific channel. This export type mirrors the segment testing options and you can select to include project settings or do a raw export.
- Select a channel
Only contacts that is reachable in that specific channel will be included in your exported target group.
E.g. if you select Email, contacts should have an email address, be subscribed to the email channel and not be bounced. - Select export type
- Select a project if you want to export your segment with project settings. This option will automatically add any project segment and engagement filter settings.
If you're using the feature Temporary blocking, blocked contacts will also be excluded from your result when choosing this export type. - Do a raw export
The raw export will run the segment as is (for the selected channel), without the additional filtering mentioned above (1).
- Select a project if you want to export your segment with project settings. This option will automatically add any project segment and engagement filter settings.
- Select the list you want to run the segment on.
- Choose the attributes you want to include in your file.
- Export your segment
Export cross channels
Get a raw file containing the contacts matching cross channels.
Please note that you can not include project settings with this export strategy.
- Select optional channel columns
Include columns with information whether the contact is receptive to communication in the selected channels or not (true/false). E.g. if a flag is email=true, the contact has an email address, is subscribed to the email channel and is not bounced.
Including channel flags will affect your export time. - Select the list you want to run the segment on.
- Choose the attributes you want to include in your file.
