Learn how this was done in the old interface!
For security reasons, Symplify requires two-factor authentication for your account. This added layer of protection helps safeguard the access to your account. If you need assistance activating the feature and setting it up, please don’t hesitate to contact your Customer Success Manager.
With the new UI comes a new way of authentication when logging in to your Symplify account. If you have the authentication feature added to your account, instead of receiving an email or sms with a code, you should now use an authenticator app. We recommend using Google Authenticator for this purpose. It is also recommended to have this downloaded on a different device than the one you are using Symplify with, so head over to your mobile device's app store and download it!
Setup
When logging in for the first time, you will be met with a landing page to setup the authentication for your account. Depending on what contact information has been added to your user, you need to choose in which way you should receive a one-time code to verify your user. This first step only needs to be done when first logging in to the new interface.
Click on the choice you prefer, and when you have received a code on either SMS or via E-mail, paste it into the box.
Next up, you will be asked to connect an Authenticator app. After downloading a suitable app, click on Next, and a QR-code will show up. Enter your authenticator app, scan the QR-code and enter the code that shows up after scanning - this will serve as the connection of your app to your Symplify account. Once that is done, the setup is complete and you will be asked to log in again. Simply enter your credentials, log in, and then go into your authenticator app and write the current code that is showing up into the box you see on the Symplify login page!
Troubleshooting
If you are running in to problems when either setting up the authenticator or simply when trying to log in, there are some things you can double check. The first thing to check is whether you are running the latest version of Google Authenticator. If not, make sure to update it.
You can also try to uninstall the authenticator app, and then downloading again.
There could also be an issue with the time synchronization in your mobile device. Verify that it is set to automatically update. Usually this is checked in your device's settings and under "Date & Time".
If issues still arise, you can always try to restart your mobile device and give it another try.
You can also head over to the help-site for your specific authenticator app. The one we recommend is Google Authenticator and more help can be found here.
