To create a segment matching a date in an attribute you first select the attribute in the add-pop up.

You'll then define your attribute type as Date

On the segment work space, click on the dropdown to select the operating criteria:

  • is blank / is not blank
There is no value in the attribute / there is some value in the attribute.
  • is / is not
The value should match your added criteria / not match your added criteria.
  • is before / is after
The date in the attribute should be before your stated date / after your stated date.
  • is annually
Neglects “yyyy” in “yyyy-MM-dd” and will only match month and day in the date.
  • is between / is not between specific dates
The date in the attribute should be between the stated date (or not). Includes the stated from and to date.
  • is between / is not between relative dates
The date in the attribute should be between the stated relative number of days (or not). Includes the stated from and to days.

When you've selected your operating criteria you will need to specify the timeframe (not if you've selected is (not) blank) - when should the segment match the date value? If you select e.g. X days ago you write the number of days in the input field.

The example below shows a segment that matches all contacts with a date value in the attribute dateOfBirth that is in 80 days from now.

Matching examples

If todays date is 2025-03-19 contacts must have the date 2025-06-07 in the attribute dateOfBirth to match above segment.
If todays date is 2025-04-06 contacts must have the date 2025-06-25 in the attribute dateOfBirth to match the segment.

Note: to use dates in segments you must have the date values correctly formatted in your Symplify list. The correct format is yyyy-MM-dd, e.g. 2020-05-22.
